Andy grew up in Los Angeles, the baby of the family with two older sisters, Barbara and Jo Ann. After leaving Catholic school, he worked in a printing company and helped manage his parents' dry cleaning business after the early passing of his father. During this time he also spent restoring a treasured Model A and enjoying the sights and sounds of an eclectic Los Angeles. However, with the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city life, he ultimately decided to pack up his groovy yellow van and move to where the trees and mountains were calling. He partnered in a wholesale plant nursery business, “ADD Growers,” with two of his friends in Rescue. Upon meeting his dear lifelong partner, Lana, in Placerville, they settled together and became longtime residents among the treasured tall trees of Pollock Pines. He made many lifelong friendships and was a beloved uncle and cherished grandfather. He would never miss the grandkids ballgames. With a reputation of being a great friend, Andy was a chilled soul who would be there for anyone who needed help. He was curious and hardworking, innovative and observant, with a passion for great bargains and delicious food. He canned and preserved the best tomato sauces and pesto and was famous for his “green spaghetti”—a reflection of his Italian heritage with his belief that “olive oil ran through his veins.” Andy would typically be recognized when wearing his tie-dye t-shirts, playing music from the Grateful Dead, and ambling in his trusty Birkenstock sandals. Andy and Lana loved their motorhome and made many trips to Mexico, where they camped on the beach, ate fresh seafood, and watched the sunsets with their dogs they adored, who brought them much love and laughter.
Andy lived life to the max. He missed his dear Lana when she passed but sincerely appreciated spending time with his mountain family, his SoCal family, forever friends, and wonderful neighbors. He is survived by his mountain family, 5 grandchildren (Britani, Britton, Bobby, Talen, Ari, and Ian), and 11 great grandchildren, his SoCal family, sister Barbara, nephew William, his wife Melanie, and son Lukas, niece Kathy, her husband Bob, and children Andrew, Alison, and Ashley, and niece Monika. He believed the opinion which other people have of you is their problem, not yours. His conversations, philosophies, and distinctive deep and slow “Andy” laugh will be forever in our hearts and minds.
We will sincerely miss him. Campfire and party are pending.
