Carmen Sotto Casperson passed away peacefully in Placerville on August 28, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Kenneth W. Casperson (1993) and her parents, Theodore and Maria Sotto. Carmen is the loving mother of Kennette (George) Wiesinger, Catherine (David) Gee, Kelei Casperson, Karen (William) Lawrence, Kimberlee Casperson, Kevin (Maricela) Casperson, Keith Casperson and Kirk (Jennifer) Casperson; Sister of Ramon Sotto and Nita Vallejo; devoted grandmother of 23 and great grandmother of 25.
Carmen was born in Manilla, Philippine Islands on July 13, 1927. Carmen and Kenny met while he was stationed in the Philippines and were married in Guam in 1952 by the Ship’s Captain. They came to Southern California, moved briefly to Minnesota in 1976 and moved back to California in 1981. Carmen was a natural pianist and started playing at the age of four. She loved all kinds of music: Classical, Jazz, Boogie Woogie, The Beatles, Carole King, James Taylor and John Denver. Carmen loved gardening and crocheting but the love of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Carmen’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville. Private inurnment will be at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Ca where she will again be with her husband, Kenny.
