Cynthia Kaye Roberts, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in the evening of February 9th, 2022, at Marshall Hospital, Placerville, CA.
Cynthia – or Cindy as she was known to family and friends - was born May 29, 1942, in Sacramento, California to Floyd and Ruth Roberts.
Cindy is the third of four children, all girls, raised in a loving home to her parents Floyd and Ruth Roberts in Sacramento, California. She attended local area schools and graduated from Hiram Johnson High School in 1960. Cindy’s interests were of singing, and with her sisters also known as “The Roberts Sisters” often performed on radio, the Bill Rase Variety T.V. Show and in the local community including nearby towns and the USO. She continued singing into her adult years performing with her own group in Placerville, CA.
It wasn’t much later she met and married her first husband Bill Brock and moved to the beautiful Sierra foothill community of Placerville, California. This new adventure led her to start a family with two sons, Mark and Matthew, named after her favorite books in the bible. During the first few years living in Placerville, Cindy started working in local Restaurants, as a Hostess, Manager and Singer. While things did not go as planned, Cindy moved on from her marriage and met her true love Willard “Pete” Peterson.
With Pete, Cindy got to see the country from Coast to Coast, Border to Border, always looking to the horizon for their next adventure. After traveling and seeing the country, her heart drew her back to the beautiful Sierras and Placerville Pine Trees which is where she always considered her home.
Though Cindy’s health was failing for some years due to chronic health conditions, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. She continued to live life by her terms. For the past few years, she spent most of her time watching her favorite TV shows, enjoying her weekly visits from her sons Mark, Matt and daughter Molly; receiving dedicated weekly and monthly phone call visits with her sisters Sonnie, Carolyn and Deborah; in-home visits from her friend and neighbor Barbara Jones and trusted caregiver Karen McGinness. Daily, Cindy was always entertained, comforted and loved by her loyal companion—a Shitz Tsu – Muffin.
While Cindy was limited to living mostly at home, the loss of her husband a few years prior was a very difficult adjustment for her. As our family grieves her loss, we take comfort knowing that Pete and Cindy are together again, and with all those they had loved who departed before them.
Cindy was preceded in death by both her parents Floyd and Ruth Roberts, her beloved husband of 36 years, Willard “Pete” Peterson in 2017, her sister Sondra “Sonnie” Enos, and stepson Shane Peterson both in 2021. She leaves behind her sisters Carolyn Grainger of Monett, Missouri; Deborah (Forrest) Bahruth of Orlando, Florida, her son Mark Brock and daughter-in-law Molly, son Matthew Brock all of Orangevale, CA; Stepdaughters Jan O’Flynn of Shingle Springs, Kole Manno of Crandall, Texas, Tracy Travis of Riggins, Idaho, daughter-in-law Julie Peterson of Cameron Park, CA and many grand-children and great grandchildren, and Auntie to nieces and nephews.
[A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Rd, Placerville, CA. Interment will be held at 1230pm at Placerville Union Cemetery and private reception following.]
