

George passed away at his home in Placerville on April 5, 2013. He was born in Geidel, Czechoslovakia to George and Rosalia Elisher and immigrated to this country in 1962. He is survived by his loving wife, Gretel, of 55 years; beloved father of Bruce (Becky) and Peter; devoted grandfather of Brian (26), Robert (25), Thomas (20), and Benjamin (17); brother of Stefan Elisher and the late Cecilia Goldschmidt and Emil Elisher all of Germany.
George had a Furniture Appraisal and Repair Business in Castro Valley, CA for many years until moving to Placerville in 1993 where he continued to do furniture repair for family and friends. He loved being in his garden and planted many trees, flowers and vegetables all over his 4 acres in Apple Hill. George loved to vacation with family and friends taking many cruises and visiting countries all over Northern and Southern Europe, New Zealand, Australia, South America, The Caribbean and of course the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.
In 1998 he, along with his wife Gretel, was one of the founding members of the German/American Friendship Club called “Stammtisch El Dorado” which has hosted numerous functions over the years and now has more than 120 members. On November 9th, 2012, George became a proud citizen of the United States of American, the country he had grown to love.
A Celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Foothills, 2380 Merrychase Dr., Cameron Park, CA 95682. Private interment will be at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, Placerville.
