March 5th, 1926 – March 20th, 2012
James Floyd Hamner of Elrod, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, age 86, passed away on March 20th, 2012 in Roseville, California.
James was born to John David Hamner and Effie Mae Pate on March 5th, 1926, in Elrod, AL. James served as a PFC in the army infantry during World War 11. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he married the love of his life, Jettie Ruth in Jasper Alabama. Shortly thereafter their first 2 children Teresa and Patty were born. In 1950 James moved his small family to Northern California to pursue better employment opportunities with his brother Tom and enjoyed a respected 40 year career in the logging industry. The family grew with the birth of their boys Jim and John. Here in El Dorado County they raised their 4 children in a community of family and friends they adored.
James will be remembered for so many wonderful qualities which include being a devoted, loving husband and a strong father who adored his children. James was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. James provided for his family through years of hard work. Those who speak of his demeanor remember a man that was the best of storytellers, honest, strong, compassionate, consistent, kind and a great man.
He is survived by his children: Daughter, Teresa Egbert (husband –Wayne) of Placerville, CA; daughter Patty Kroeker (husband, Ken) of Camino, CA; son, Jim Hamner (wife, Cynthia) of Rocklin, CA; son, John Hamner (wife, Robin) of Placerville, CA; his older brother Wilburn Hamner of Alabama and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
James loved and was loved immensely.
He will be honored and remembered at a memorial service at Chapel of the Pines Mortuary, Placerville, CA on Saturday March 24th, 2012 at 11:00am.
