Lawrence Gerald Oates

Lawrence G. Oates of Diamond Springs passed away Monday, December 2, 2013. Lawrence was born in Graham, KY on January 18, 1919 to Lawrence and Bertha Oates. On May 11, 1940 he married Margaret C. Oates in Owensboro, KY.

Lawrence was a WWII veteran (Navy, U.S.S. Rio Grande) who enjoyed spending time with his family, outdoor activities such as fishing, camping and RV’ing, and working with his hands building house projects and doing yard work. He had a 32 year career as a Master Carpenter with Carpenters Local Union 152, Martinez, CA. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Margaret. Those who mourn his passing are his sister Awilda LaMar of Concord, CA, his daughters Dianna Link of Bangor, CA and Cheri (Norm) Ironside of Granite Bay, CA, his son Gary (Patricia) Oates of Verona, WI, his seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A Funeral Service for Family and friends will be held at the Pollock Pines Community Church, 6361 Pony Express Trail, Pollock Pines on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Rd. in Placerville.
