Luella Agnes Bousquet, age 102, of Diamond Springs, California passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Luella was born in South Hadley, Massachusetts to Robert Smith and Phyllis Haas who were both also born in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
She was raised on a large dairy farm until her teens when her father died. Her mother remarried and the blended family moved to a large home in the same town, but she always loved and missed her early years on the farm.
Luella married Arthur Bousquet and had two children, Ardith Wolynec of North Clarendon, Vermont and Carol Schultz of Diamond Springs, California. She was later divorced, but never remarried. She found pleasure in traveling and in spending time with her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Luella retired from secretarial work for the state of Massachusetts in September 1986 then moved to California to be near her daughter, Carol. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Placerville. During her her retired years Luella enjoyed a local quilting group, senior hiking and attended many activities at her Lake Oaks home. Most notable to her were her 20 years spent volunteering at the Placerville Senior Center.
Luella had a generosity of spirit and a good sense of humor, both of which served her well in her long life, even in the years she struggled with advancing dementia.
She will be missed in this life but is now free.
