Stephanie Ann Pope

Stephanie Ann Pope, born Stephanie Ann Chapman, died peacefully at home early in the morning on Saturday, October 22, surrounded by her loving family. Stephanie's death followed a courageous and inspiring eighteen month battle against brain cancer, diagnosed in March of 2010.

Born March 8, 1967 to Marilyn and Jim Chapman, in Placerville, CA, Stephanie attended El Dorado High School and graduated in 1986. She then attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and completed her Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication. After returning to El Dorado County, her love of beautiful places and the company of good friends led her work for a period as a river guide. While doing so, she met David Pope, and the two fell in love and eventually married in 2001. In the meantime, Steph had returned to school and earned a teaching credential. She taught for three years at Lake Forest Elementary, but eventually chose to stay home to raise her two beautiful boys, Wyatt and Owen.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, David Pope, and her two boys, Wyatt and Owen Pope, as well as her mother, Marilyn Chapman and her father, Jim Chapman. She was preceeded in death earlier this year by her brother Tim.

Stephanie will be remembered as an incredibly kind and gracious woman, with a beauty that began somewhere within her and flowed effortlessly through her bright smile and captivating brown eyes. She loved to laugh, and did so often. She will be forever loved and cherished by those who had the good fortune of spending precious moments with her.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Stephanie on Sunday, November 20 at Camp Lotus in Lotus, CA. We will begin at 11 a.m., lunch and refreshments will be served.
