Stephen Craig Garcia, at the age of 60, passed away at his home in Placerville, California on Friday, May 18, 2012. He was born on October 6, 1951 in Oakland, California to Al and Janet Garcia, and has been a resident of California his entire life.
In his early years, his favorite times were spent with his Grandma Mary and Grandpa Tim at Glen Alpine where he spent his days fishing, hiking and horseback riding. Grandma’s dog, Rin Tin Tin, kept close eyes on both Steve and his sister Sharon. Steve attended Williams Elementary School in Concord and graduated from Clayton Valley High School in 1969. After graduation, Steve joined the Army National Guard where he served for six years.
Steve lived in Clear Lake for many years, where he drove trucks and worked in the construction field. From there, he resided in Suisun City for ten years before returning to the land he loved most, the mountains, living in Tahoe for a year before moving to Placerville.
Steve was an entrepreneur of several self-owned businesses throughout his life, and a man of many talents and interests. First and foremost, he was a loving and devoted family man. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He enjoyed travel and the tropics, fishing and hiking, was always at peace when he was close to nature. He found pleasure in gardening, working close to the earth and with his hands. He was most at home in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Glen Alpine, which he loved so very much.
