9/10/1921 - 4/3/2011
Wilda Rodgers, 89, passed away peacefully in Placerville, California, on Sunday, April 3, 2011. Wife of the late Ralph W. Rodgers (1974); loving mother of Ralph "Bill" Rodgers of Placerville; grandmother of Bill (Katie) Rodgers of Folsom, Jon Rodgers of Placerville, Kristine (Peter) Walz of Santa Cruz, Rachelle (Tom) Cashion of Walnut Creek, Stephen (Monique) Rodgers and Shelby (Carter) Medlin both of Sacramento, Sara (Scott) Rikalo of Cameron Park and Denyce Rodgers of Sacramento. She was fortunate to welcome and share in the lives of her fourteen great-grandchildren. Her son Tom and her five sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Wilda was born in Gilroy on September 10, 1921. She married Ralph W. Rodgers on November 9, 1940, and they lived in the Central Valley while raising their two sons. She moved to Placerville in 1976 to be near her family after the death of her husband Ralph. She worked for many years at the Beno's Department Store and loved quilting, sewing, and crocheting. All the family loved to receive her handmade gifts. Wilda was a wonderful cook, and the grandkids loved her anise-spiced "Hard Cookies"—a Swedish recipe. Grandma Wilda will always be remembered as a kind, patient, and caring person who loved her family dearly. We celebrate her life and rejoice that she is at peace and reunited with her husband, son, and siblings.
A family memorial service and interment in Turlock, California, will be private as per her request. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619 (www.snowlinehospice.org), or to Partners in Care, P.O. Box 845, Placerville, CA 95667. Friends may sign a guestbook and leave condolences at www.chapelofthepinesfunerals.com. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, Placerville CA.
