Bart J. Verga

Bart J. Verga, age 97, passed away on March 4, 2026, resident of Plainview and Melville. Bart was born in Mola di Bari, Italy. He is survived by his beloved wife Rose Marie to whom he was married to for 65 years. Devoted father to Laura (Steve) and Stephen (Lisa). Loving grandfather to Christina, Justin (Allison), Nicholas and Isabella and great grandson, Lucas. He was predeceased by his parents, Matteo and Caterina and brothers, Marco, John, Tony and Mario. He is also survived by sister-in laws; Claudia, Janice, June, brother-in-law Joe and many nieces and nephews.

Bart migrated to the U.S. at the age of 18 and within three days obtained his first job. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and became a staff sergeant. A proud employee for Grumman for over 30 years, he worked on the Apollo spacecraft and F-14 fighter planes. He liked watching soccer games but his greatest pleasure was spending time and enjoying Sunday dinners with his family.

A Visitation will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 655 Old Country Road, Plainview, NY on March 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 500 S Oyster Bay Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801, US, on March 9, 2026, at 10:00

A committal service will be Follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale
