

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Nina was born April 8, 1926 in Astoria, NY to Joseph & Vincenza Fugardi and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 21, 2016 in Murphy, TX.
Nina and Bob resided in New York with their five children until 1975 when they relocated to Richardson, TX. Nina and Bob devoted much of their time to volunteering at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano, TX. She participated in several ministries at the church including Marriage Encounter, Sponsor Couple, Catechist, Breakfast Club, Eucharistic Minister, Hospital Ministry, and Art and Environment.
Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life, and she was a model of humility, service to others, and showed her deep love of God to all those she met throughout her life. They describe her as “a very gentle, kind and loving soul. She was a wonderful woman who lived a blessed life, had a strong faith in the Lord and lived her life selflessly for others.”
She adored her grandchildren and had a great influence on their lives and helped shape them into who they are today.
Nina had many hobbies and especially enjoyed her bowling league, square dancing club, and bible study groups.
Nina is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Fugardi and his wife Dorothy along with her children Michael Egan, Mary Phillips and husband John, Agnes Calhoun and husband Barry, Teresa Duree, Christopher Egan, and her five grandchildren, Matthew Phillips and wife Cindy, Megan Elrod and husband Allen, Sarah Calhoun, Caitlin Phillips and Lauren Calhoun, and her great grandchildren Aidan Elrod and Hailey Phillips, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her son-in-law Russell Duree precedes her in death.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Ted Dickey Funeral Home East from 5 to 7 PM. There will be a memorial vigil service to celebrate Nina’s life starting at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 29th at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano. Following the service, there will be a reception at St. Mark’s Pastoral Center located at 1105 West 15th St., Plano, TX. Interment will take place at 2:30 PM at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, TX.
The family wishes to express their thanks for all of the support and prayers received during Nina’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. They also extend their appreciation to the loving caregivers at Lynridge Memory Care and Amity Hospice.
