

Carla Jeanne Raper Springer was born in Waco on April 13, 1948 and passed in Plano, Texas on August 24, 2016. A graduate of Plano High School and Texas Woman’s University, Carla worked as a journalist and in marketing for the Oak Cliff Tribune, St. Paul Hospital, and retired from JC Penney Headquarters after twenty years of service. She received numerous accolades and awards for her remarkable work. Carla’s giving nature was shown through her vast experience as a volunteer for organizations including Mosaic, Special Olympics, Camp Summit, and several others. A HUGE supported and fan for the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Sidekicks, Carla was also known for naming the Dallas Mavericks when they became the NBA team for our city. Carla is survived by her daughter, Tracye Jeanne Springer of Dallas, and her father, Charles Raper of Plano, and many close cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Jeanne Raper, and her grandparents, Lyle and Nadine Shelley Raper, Jack and Edna Holt, and other dear family members. Carla was known for her infectious laugh, kind heart, generosity, creativity, and faithful, loving spirit. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
