Carol Jean Hansen

Carol was born the daughter of Roger and Melva Shiery on August 27, 1932 in Dallas Center, Iowa. She graduated from Dallas Center High School in 1949.

Carol was united in marriage to Frederick Karl Hansen in 1949. They had 2 daughters, Karla Kay and Denise Rae. They lived in Dallas Center before moving to Des Moines, Iowa where they raised their daughters. In 1976, the moved to Murphy, Texas.

Carol worked as a legal secretary for the Dallas County, Iowa district attorney. She then worked in the mortgage industry for the rest of her career. She retired from Freddie Mac in 1989. Carol had a passion for animals and had fostered many homeless pets for the SPCA of Texas. She adored spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Granddaughter. She also enjoyed traveling the world.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Karla Kay (Jerry) Salzgeber of Murphy, Texas and Denise Rae Van Roekel of Montezuma, Iowa. Her Grandson, Scott (Heather) Salzgeber of Austin, Texas and Megan (Grant) Burrow of Murphy, Texas, Great Granddaughter Avery Burrow, sister Nancy Renfrow of Adel, Iowa. She was preceded in death by husband Fred, her parents and a son-in-law Marvin Van Roekel.

There will be a private graveside service at the Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas where Carol will be laid to rest with her husband Frederick Karl Hansen.
