You will be so missed dan we had some crazy fun times together so sad to here about your passing so many lives lost during  the pandemic it's unreal but loved how real you were you never held back and were a hard working man I'm gonna miss you but I know your in a better place fly high soldier 🪖wish I would of known sooner

I'm not even sure how to start this letter....you have been on my heart and mind for the last few years and heavily these last few months. How could I not have reached out sooner. I'm so sorry. I know the world in which you lived and I wanted to let you know I was doing well and was hoping and praying you were too. I wanted you to know I am clean and sober and was worried about you. I loved you so much and cared for you even though we had been through so much together. How much I wanted to talk to you one more time to make sure you were ok. Rest in peace my dear friend. Dan was a loyal and kind friend, and would do anything to help out. One of the most sincere friends I've ever had. I'm heartbroken and filled with regret. I wish I would have taken more time to go to his cabin, play him in tennis or pool, or listen to his terrible EDM mixes. Dan was one who always reached out to others. I'm going to miss those calls and texts. I'm thankful to have met Dan and will forever cherish that lighthearted attitude he possessed. 

I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel at Fort Benning, GA during Infantry OSUT training in 2008. We spent a lot of time together, often speaking of music, outdoors, and home.  We didn’t speak much after we shipped off to different parts of the world but I will always remember his motivation in training and him being one many of us looked up to. 
Condolences to the family of Mr. Patterson; your hero is not forgotten. 

I am sending lots of love to Uncle Jim, Aunt Shelley, Erin and Mallory. I will always love and remember Dan and the time you spent with me in Colorado. You showed up with about 20 PB&J’s all stacked up and countless protein bars. You cooked, watched my pup you liked to call Boo, and redid my floors as a surprise. It seems like you are going to call or text any moment to tell me about a deer blind you built me knowing full well I hate hunting, and I can see the smile on your face as you do. Much like the smile and laugh you always had as you barged in on whatever Erin and I were doing growing up. It was too soon, I love you always and my heart aches to have you back,

I have read the wonderful tributes to  Dan.  It's hard to know what to say during these difficult times.  Shelly, I wish I could  hug you and try to comfort you.  I will pray for you, Jim and the girls. 

I haven't seen Dan in nearly 20 years, but I will always remember his playful sense of humor and continues smile.  Thoughts are with his family and friends.  He was far to young...

Each soul leaves a legacy of love...each memory a bridge to comfort and connects one heart to another forever.

Daniel I will always remember our family gatherings at your beach house.  My fondest memories of you are days spent on L'attitude and heading out early in the morning to fish.   Your love of the outdoors is kindred to mine.  God bless you...and love to your family.

Dan and I were great friends growing up. I have some great memories hanging out with him at his parents cabin in Linwood. My condolences to his family. Dan will always live in my memories. I will miss him very much.

Thinking of The Patterson family during this difficult time. I remember a story my mom would tell me about the time my brother and Daniel were born just a day apart in the same hospital. She would always laugh about meeting Daniel and talk about what a beautiful baby boy he was in comparison to my brother who had a cone shaped head due to a difficult delivery.  I always think of him on his birthday and that silly story my mom told me years ago.

To the Patterson family, I am truly sorry for your loss. To know Dan was to know his love of growing as a person and his strive for making his mark in this world. I will miss our long conversations and exploring business ideas with him. He was a great person, colleague and friend. Dan has left a lasting impression of friendship that I will not forget. Dan was a great man. I met dan when he was out selling construction projects in my neighborhood. After five minutes of meeting dan I offered him a job because my gut told me he was a honest hardworking man. Wow was I right. Dan became more than a co worker he was my friend. He loved the outdoors and people. Dan made my company better. Every one loved dan and we will miss dan every day. I’ll never forget the day when dan was at my condo in Colombia looked off the balcony at a island 2 miles out in the sea and said I’m swimming there today. I only knew Dan for a brief friendship after he lost the use of his legs.
 I came on board at Hallmark to help Dan accomplish what he started.
I heard about the accident through mutual friends and I gave Dan a call while he was in the hospita.l Our first conversation was over an hour long.
 It would have been longer but I had a girlfriend at the time.
 Dan was easy to talk to because we both loved what we do.
 We talked about storms, insurance companies and claims. projects  past and Future. 
 When we would talk like that you couldn't even see the wheelchair 
Dan was always ready to go to work and he was anxious to get something done. To accomplish what he started.
 I believe it's safe to say that Dan didn't believe in staying down. 
 But rather that were either up or getting up.
 If Dan were still with us we would be out knocking doors, meeting people.
And putting on some roofs...
 Knowing Dan for just that brief time inspired me to get up.
 I believe that Dan got out of that wheelchair I believe he got up.
 And  I believe we will see him at the finish line.

I have so many great memories of Daniel it's hard to pick but for one spending time at his cabin while he was building it and hunting hogs. I believe it was his favorite place to be. Another that I will always remember is when he wanted us to prank call his dad. He spent hours writing the whole story he wanted us to say and we all were laughing so hard and finally when we called James wouldn't answer a call from unavailable; he laughed and laughed. I have known Dan for 4 years. I have worked with him, for him, I've laughed with him and cried with him. He was a great friend to me and we talked every couple of days. I loved him and had cared for him recently and will forever miss him. Losing him is like a part of us is gone but will keep him in my heart forever. Any moment spent with Dan was always a time you would never forget. He's one of a kind. I love you Dan !!!!!!

Here is a photo of Dan. He was truly a handsome man, which was balanced by his silly sense of humor. He could be frustrating at times because we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. However, he was always a phone call away when needed, never backed away from hard days work, and wanted nothing more than to make a few individuals in his life proud of him. He loved Michigan sports and never missed a March Madness game. His true passion was making EDM music and building his company. I do not have a favorite memory of Dan because I have so many special memories of Dan. However, I can share a few moments I loved. One was when he put my small dog in a doggy carrier on his chest and carried him around while he canvased the neighborhood for his company. Another favorite memory was when he took my grandmother, mother, and I out for Mexican food and entertained her stories about the military because our family has a rich military history. Dan was kind and generous with her and when we left she expressed her wish that I would snag that good man. However, what is more, important than individual memories is my understanding of how good of a heart he had. Dan has driven me to the hospital at 4 in the morning, came to give my car a jump in the freezing cold, and even driven over an hour to make sure my mother had a ride from the hospital after her procedure when I could not make it. 

I loved Dan and wish that I could get in touch with someone so that we may join in honoring Dan's life. I have known him for the last four years closely but have not been able to get in touch with his family. Please contact me with any information so we may share our rich stories and love for Dan.
