

He was born in Columbia, Missouri on October 15, 1934, a son of Lester Donald and Mildred (Allen) Maddox, who preceded him in death. Phil had many careers: United States Navy band, United States Navy “Sea Chanters”; orchestra, choir and band director. He was first clarinetist in the United States Navy Band and an original member of the United States “Sea Chanters.” Singing at the White House and meeting President and Mrs. Eisenhower was a special treat. Phil taught orchestra and private music lessons in Plano ISD, retiring in May, 1997 after 30 years of teaching. Hobbies included playing golf and fishing.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 51 ½ years Sandra Taylor Maddox of Plano, TX
His children: Kacia Maddox and Eric of Payson, Arizona, Christopher Maddox and Nichole of Wylie, TX, and Jeffrey Maddox and Mary Jane of Frisco, TX.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Kristin Hudson and Ted of Gilbert, Arizona, Zachery Vessels of Mesa, Arizona,
Erica Lynn Maddox, Katelin Belle Maddox, and Megan Marie Maddox of Frisco, TX
Two great grandchildren: Paisley Jade Hudson and Adalynn Dawn Hudson of Gilbert, Arizona.
Sister: Marian Reeder and Nathan of Tool, TX
Brother in law Dr. Garry Taylor and Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, TX
Sister-in-law Lizbeth Grissom and Doug of Houston, TX.
Many nieces, nephews, and friends also surivive.
