Ernest C Eberle

He was born in Ilion, NY on July 4, 1935. “Twas a very good year” is what he would say after telling someone his birthdate. After graduating from high school, he completed a four year apprenticeship with General Electric in Utica, NY. Ernie graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, now Virginia Tech, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in May of 1961. He was married to Joyce Ann Brooks on November 23, 1961 in Washington D.C..

He had a career in Engineering for 40+ years working for General Electric, Texas Instruments, Raytheon and a few others. He was a member of the Optimist Club of Richardson and Toastmasters International for over 25 years. If you knew him, you know he loved to tell stories and spend time with family. He was an avid reader of all things history, especially World War II, collector of stamps, model airplanes and cars. He also loved to travel, taking Joyce wherever she wanted to go. He was an active member and lay reader at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Plano, Texas for over 40 years.

He is survived by his son Ernest Jr. and daughter-in-law Joni, of College Station, daughter Nancy and daughter-in-law Lisa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and grandchildren, Kayla, Brady, Ryan and Briyana. He is also survived by his sister, Jessie Sheppard of Mohawk, New York, brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and parents Ernest John and Edith.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 17, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ted Dickey Funeral Home at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074. The funeral service for Ernie will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Christ Church Plano located at 4550 Legacy Drive, Plano, Texas 75024 followed by a reception.

Ernie will be laid to rest with a committal service on June 18, 2024 at 3:30pm at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to one of the following: American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
