

Frances Jean Sims died at home December 11, 2010 after a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones. Jean was born in Highland Park, Mi in 1913 to the late Arthur Neil McDougall and Isabelle Watson Henning. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed horseback riding, music, swimming, golfing, and traveling around the country to visit family and friends. Jean also enjoyed homemaking, cooking, baking, gardening, reading, crafts, needlework and sewing for herself and her family. Her most important accomplishment was the inspiration she imparted to her family to strive for excellence in every aspect of life. Her first marriage in 1937 ended suddenly, when her husband, Arthur Patrick Barkey, died in an automobile accident October 29, 1943. She remarried in 1957 to William Richard Sims. Their 30 year marriage ended in April , 1985, when he died following a long illness. Jean is survived by her two children Patricia (Barkey) Kirby; and Tim R. (Mona Konfara) Barkey; former daughter-in-law, Donna (Braga) Barkey; five grand-children, Lynda Kirby, the late Lisa Kirby, Debra Barkey Steinik Collins, Dawn Barkey and David Konfara; four great grand-children, Jonathan Kirby, Rachel Steinik, Danille Steinik and Isabella Collins; sister-in-law Joan (Sims Valente) Mulholland; two cousins, William J. McDougal and Bruce (Marcia) McDougal . A graveside service will be held in the Spring, 2011 at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Mi.
