

He is also survived by his loving sister, Janet Brune, with whom he shared a lifelong bond marked by closeness and care.
Gary was naturally optimistic, effortlessly charismatic, and known for a quick, sarcastic wit. He was the genuine cowboy with kindness, charm, and the easy way he made others feel welcome.
Gary was a man of deep Christian faith. His relationship with God was personal and steady. He believed in integrity, forgiveness, and holding on to hope no matter the season.
He had a lifelong love for the outdoors—riding horses, hunting, Harleys, and all things cowboy. graduating from Jennings High School he attended McNeese State University, paying for his education by working summers on oil rigs for Superior Oil.
His junior year, Gary joined the U.S. Air Force and served honorably as a military police officer. Stationed in Alaska, & continued his love for the gym and developed habits of strength and discipline that stayed with him for life.
After his service, Gary began a law enforcement career in the DFW area. There he met his wife and lived and started his family. They share 3 beautiful children Lauren, Aaron and Jonathan.
In the late ’80s, Gary moved his family to Uvalde, where he became known as the kind "Officer Greenhaw' When tragedy befell his family, his community came together to lift them up—a testament to the impact he had made.
Above all, Gary treasured being a grandfather. Watching Kenzie, Lincoln, and Kayla grow brought him profound joy. He spoke of them with pride and affection, and in their presence, he was at his best—joyful, gentle, and full of love. They were the center of his world.
Gary as all cowboys loved classic Westerns and the grit and integrity they presented.
As some families do they grew apart and divorced allowing Gary to reconnect with a high school friend and along with new adventures he gained an extended family in Houston. He enjoyed his days in Houston, at the cabin in Arkansas and even his first cruise!
Gary passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at the age of 82.
He will be remembered as a proud veteran, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived with strength, humility, faith, and a spark of mischief that never left him. A gentleman at heart, a cowboy in spirit, and a man who left the world better than he found it.
Rest in peace, Gary. You are deeply loved and always missed.
