

The family announces the passing of Janet McKinney Richeson, born September 14, 1939, in Okemah, Oklahoma. Janet passed away knowing she was loved and in the care of family on April 18, 2025, in Round Rock, Texas.
Janet led a full, rewarding, and inspirational life. A smart, insightful, compassionate powerhouse of a woman, a loving partner to her husband Warner, a loving, engaged, and fun Mom to her two children Andrea and Andrew, and an extraordinary Grandma to her two grandchildren Hallie Jane and Zachary. Janet also was a wonderful and devoted sister to her brothers John and Stephen and a loving Aunt to her nieces Carol and Kathy and nephew Don.
Janet was the consummate professional in her careers as an Office Manager, Realtor, Antique shop owner, and Librarian. She was smart, dedicated, and could manage anything that came her way. She attended College at William Woods and Collin County Community College, studying Business Administration.
Janet was a dedicated community leader in Plano, serving on several boards and organizations, volunteering in her children’s schools, as well as a dedicated church leader, teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school, helping to launch a new church, and volunteering for a wide variety of efforts at Spring Creek Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
Janet was a dear friend to many. She was a founding member of the Mary Shirley McGuire DAR chapter in Plano and served as a Regent and long-time volunteer. She also volunteered in many community organizations - too many to list here.
Janet lived a true Christian life, in dedication to her God, her family, her church, her friends, and her community.
Janet was a warrior to the end and will live on in our hearts.
Janet was preceded in death by her Father, John L McKinney, her Mother, Thelma Mae Miracle McKinney, and her Brother, John McKinney, and her husband, Warner Richeson. Her memory is lovingly cherished by her children Andrea Richeson and Andrew Richeson, her Grandchildren Hallie Jane Richeson and Zachary Richeson, her nieces and nephew, and her many dear friends.
A visitation for Janet will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
A committal service will follow on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 3:30 PM at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 2128 18th St, Plano, TX 75074.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels Collin County (www.mealsonwheelscc.org) and Plano Community Homes (www.planocommunityhome.org/donate).
