

Jean was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Staten Island when she was in grade school.
Bio-chemist, homemaker, and dietician, she was an active member and volunteered her time generously to Blessed Sacrament Church in S.I. and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Plano as well as many community charities.
Jean graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and worked on cancer research at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital prior to being a homemaker. She married Tom Dorans in 1951 in Staten Island, NY and together raised 7 children before relocating to Plano, Texas in 1988. They were married for over 65 years at the time of his death in 2017. Some of her cherished volunteer work included PTA President, Meals on Wheels, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Pre-Cana Facilitator, Friends of the Bereaved, and Home Visitation Ministry. Jean spent many hours preparing delicious meals for her family and friends and also earned the moniker “Dial A Chef” for the advice she provided to many who knew her.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Cornelius T. (Tom), her sons Douglas and Glenn, grandson Brad, and brothers Charles and Don. She is survived by sons Michael, Barry, Keith and David; daughters Anne Sullivan and Ellen Giblin; sons-in-law Ed Sullivan and Joseph Giblin; daughters-in law, Laura, Charlotte, Lisa Marie, Rebecca and Mary Ann; her grandchildren Svetlana Hurst, Elizabeth Dorans, Kathryn Dorans and Matthew Giblin and great grand-children Lexi, Kai and Alyiah, and sisters- in-law Dorothy Gaeta and Linda Dorans. She will be missed by her ever-present companion terrier, Luna.
Arrangements by Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on September 27, 2024 at 2:30 PM (2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX. 75023).
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her honor.
