

Lauren J. (Sarge) Fair, Sr. of Plano, TX, died peacefully in his home September 15, 2010. Surviving him are his loving wife Maxine, daughter Laura Cottongim (Jeff) of Richardson, son Jay Fair Jr. (Laura) of Plano, and daughter Lisa Schnitzius of Plano. His son Jeff preceded Lauren in death. Seven beautiful grandchildren, Joshua, Violet, Victoria, Abigail, Buckley, Jacob and Jesse. Other surviving family members are brothers of Sydney, OH, Don Fair (Sue) and children, Joe Fair and children and his sister Vonda Jean Wolff (Roger) and children of Springfield, OH. From Louisville, KY, his extended family Doris Barnett and children, Geraldine Gordon and children, Larry Spink (Fran) and child, Gloria Schuerich (Bob) and children, David Spink (Margaret) and children, and Steve Spink (Bonnie) and children.
Lauren was born on June 26, 1929 in Guthrie OK to Loren and Marge Fair. His family moved to Ohio where Lauren lived until he joined the United States Army. He served his country proudly in Fort Knox, KY, Panama Canal, Panama, France, Puerto Rico, Norfolk VA and Virginia Beach VA where he retired in 1970 after 23 years of service. He retired with the highest honor of Sergeant E8. During his time in the Army, he became familiarly known as “Sarge”.
After military retirement, Sarge moved his family to Louisville, KY where he lived and worked until 1974. In November of 1974, he moved his family one last time to Plano, TX for a better business opportunity. Plano has been their family home since.
Sarge became a member of the American Legion Post 321 in Plano, TX upon arrival in Texas so he could continue to support his country and fellow retired service men. He served as Post Commander and Chaplin for many years.
Dearly loved by family and friends, Lauren will is greatly missed by all. May he rest in peace in the house of the Lord.
