Loleta Smith was born on May 11, 1930 in New Boston, Texas. She graduated high school and became a secretary and later an executive secretary. But throughout Loleta’s whole life, she was a caretaker. Whether she was taking care of her children, and later her grandchildren, or her pets, Loleta was always looking out for the best for others. Loleta passed away on May 5, 2014 in Dallas. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Scott, as well as by her grandson Brian and Philip Scott. Loleta is also survived by her sister, Tulah Madderra, great grandchildren Chloe and Evelyn Scott and by Velma Jean Stewart, a member of the family whom she treasured deeply. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven M. Born, and her grandson Wesley Scott. The service will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at 2 PM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home. There will be a visitation just prior to that on Wednesday at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the SPCA or your local animal shelter in honor of Loleta.
