Michael Dale Eckeberger

He is survived by his father and step-mother, T. Dale and Florence Eckeberger, his sister, Pamela Eckeberger Dennis; brother and sister-in-law Brian W. and Melinda Syrios Eckeberger; step-brother William Mimms and step-sister Kay Matthews. Nephews: Austin J. Dennis, Bryce T. Eckeberger, Cole M. Eckeberger, H. Alex Dennis and Jake H. Eckeberger. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty J. McGee Eckeberger, and grandparents, R. Truman and Mabel Eckeberger and Charles F. and Gretta McGee.

Mike was born in Waxahachie, Texas on January 20, 1952. He attended Richardson Heights Elementary School, Richardson West Junior High School and graduated from Richardson High School in 1970. He also attended Texas Tech University. He was a true sportsman, involved in basketball, baseball, football, racquetball, golf and water/snow skiing, as well as an avid hunter. He was in the residential construction industry throughout his life.

Music was always Mike’s passion. He was an accomplished guitarist. Beginning in junior high school with his three-man band, The Mystics. Through the years, he played with Bugs Henderson, “Nardo” Murray, Ravencroft and a multitude of jam sessions with friends and acquaintances, appearing at music venues in the Dallas area as well as Las Vegas and other locations.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on October 2nd at 11:00 am, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074. Burial will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery 300 S. Hawkins Street, Waxahachie, TX 75165 later in the afternoon. All are invited to both locations.
