

Milton Silas “Sandy” Sandell lll, 83, of Plano, Texas passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026. He was born in Raton, Texas on November 13, 1942, to Milton S. Sandell Jr. and Pauline Grace Hill. Sonny (as he was called as a boy) moved to Hamilton, Texas when he was 15 years old where he met Cindy Robinson. Sonny played basketball and football for Hamilton HS. He attended Texas A&M on a basketball scholarship and married Cindy in 1963. At A&M, his nickname changed from Sonny to Sandy. He graduated from Texas A&M and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Sandy went to work for Texas Instruments after graduating from TAMU in 1968 and traveled the world. He worked for TI in the defense division for 24 years and later as a consultant for over 10 years. In his retirement years he fulfilled a dream of reviving and operating his grandfather’s cattle ranch in Jayton, Texas. He played many sports in his lifetime (basketball, baseball, football, tennis, golf) and worked out daily at the Carpenter Park Recreation Center in his later years. He loved gardening and had the talent to make anything grow. He was an active member of the Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation, and he and his wife of 62 years enjoyed attending Aggie football games every Fall. He is survived by his wife Cindy; daughter Robyn and her husband David Watkins; his son Steven and his wife Dione Sandell; and four grandchildren, Trey West, Andrew Watkins, Sarah Watkins and Silas Sandell. He is also survived by his sister Sandra Henkes and her family, as well as numerous cousins. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. Sandy was a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger. He and Cindy enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful adventures around the world. He will be sorely missed.
