Pam was born on May 26, 1968 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the second daughter of Douglas Ray and Udene (Walker) Fortney during a bad thunderstorm. Pam would later be afraid of bad thunder and lighting.
Pam was preceded in death by her mother, Udene and her father, Doug, and both sets of loving grandparents.
She is survived by her older sister: Valarie Eileen Fortney of Dallas,
Aunt Ramona Fortney Martel of Claremont, Florida,
Aunt Glenda James of Fallbrook, California, and Uncle Charlie Fortney of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Pam had numerous cousins also in California, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida and Michigan.
Pam never meet a stranger and would introduce herself to everyone. She loved calling everyone "buddy." Stranger danger was discussed but Pam rarely listened because she knew everyone was her friend.
She loved going to Walmart and would stand beside the Walmart greeters to "help" them with their jobs.
Pam graduated in 1990 from Richardson High School and loved being an Eagles fan. Her favorite colors were purple and gold, the Richardson High School colors.
Pam grew up in Wilshire Baptist Church and later joined First Baptist of Richardson. Pam was active in her special education Sunday School classes and loved playing the handbells. Pam was baptized by our prior minister, Dr. Brian Harbor.
Pam was quite involved in Circle of Friends, a social organization that her parents and sister volunteered with for over 20 years.
Pam also loved Special Olympics and was involved in numerous sports-like basketball, soccer, bocci ball, bowling, track and field, softball throw and discus throw.
Pam also loved riding horses at Equest, a therapeutic riding program in Wylie, TX. She rode various horses for over 20 years. Pam also loved seeing Eileen's horse, Excalibur, also.
Pam loved going to Camp Summit and Camp Seek. Pam would look forward to both camps every year. Pam would start packing months before camp. Pam would squeal with delight when we would leave for camp or Caaaaamp Seek as she would say it. Towards the end, Pam would only go to Camp Seek, a Methodist camp on Lake Texhoma for special needs individuals.
Another love of Pam's was her group home where she lived over 18 years with Volunteers of America. She loved her Northcrest home very much. She would tell her family that we were boring and she needed to go back to Northcrest, her home.
