Robert Bernard Bose was born January 30, 1930 to Roland and Melba Bose in New Braunfels, Texas. Bob lived the first portion of his life in New Braunfels, a place he described as “the best town there was to grow up in.” He attended The University of Texas, in 1952 receiving a degree in physics as well as his commission in the navy. He served honorably and frequently spoke with great pride of his days serving his country. It was while attending submarine officers’ school in New London, Connecticut that he met and married Nancy Gartland of New Haven. The couple loved travel and their family and various corporate positions took them to Syracuse, Florida, Germany, Belgium, Minnesota, and the Dallas area. His local social circles were so varied and reliable that his children joked that he was “King of Plano.” They referred to him as a “Bon Vivant” in light of his perpetual happiness. While living in Plano he received his private pilot’s license and treated family and friends to aerial tours of North Texas. He was an avid fan of technology and operated a ham radio and tinkered with electronics. Forever he will live in family memories as a joyful man wearing suspenders and an infectious smile. Robert Bernard is survived by daughter Suzanne and her husband Tim Kratz of Spring Branch, Robert Junior and Elsie Bose of Paris, France, David and Kelly of Norfolk, Virginia, and Mary Elizabeth McElhattan and Bryan of Plano. His sister Roxolyn lives in New Braunfels and grandchildren live throughout the country: Brian and Daniel Kratz in Texas, Robert III and Elizabeth Bose in Virginia, and Kady McElhattan in Plano.
