Sue Dozier Shoemaker

She married Delbert Shoemaker on May 19, 1951. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away August 2, 2001. Sue was a homemaker taking wonderful care of her four children for many years, then worked in multiple medical offices before retiring.

Sue Shoemaker was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star on December 15, 1958. She was a loyal and active member for over 66 years. She served as Worthy Matron three times at two different Chapters, Secretary for a total of eighteen years in two different Chapters, Treasurer for one year and various other stations over the years. She especially loved serving as Martha and was willing to fill in whenever needed. Her service in Grand Chapter included multiple Committee Appointments, as Deputy Grand Matron twice, serving as Grand Martha during Vi Griffin’s Grand Chapter year 2011-2012, and Grand Representative to the state of Montana from 2004-2006. She belonged to Templar Chapter #374, Order of the Eastern Star at the time of her passing. She loved the Order of the Eastern Star and made life-long friends throughout the Chapters.

She is survived by daughter, Debbie Young, son Stephen Shoemaker and wife, Cristie, and daughter, Emily Hartwig and husband, Andy. She felt blessed with grandchildren, Jennifer Birchfield and husband, Scott, Susan Trowbridge and husband, Michael, Kevin Trowbridge and wife, Sydnee, and William Hartwig and wife, Hailey. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren Ellis and Wren Trowbridge, Isabel and Jovani Birchfield and Holden Hartwig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Shoemaker, her parents W.E. and Hattie Dozier, brother W.E. Dozier, Jr., daughter Teresa Joy, and grand-daughter Melissa Trowbridge.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas.
