Sylvia Ann Layne, 42, of McKinney, Texas, passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was born on October 16, 1979, in Galveston, Texas, destined to become the daughter of Marla Layne and Barbara Aud.
She had a quiet and gentle spirit. She was not judgmental with people she met and possessed a sweet nature that hugged those that called her friend. She was known for her quick smiles and comedic one-liners that brought magic to those who knew her best.
Sylvia’s love of Big Cats was born of a genuine and kind soul that longed to save the animals that she adored. She partnered with In-Sync Exotics to adopt and annually support Zahra, a white tiger that was her favorite Big Cat.
She spent her days amassing an encyclopedic knowledge of music and was able to recite lyrics to any R&B, Pop, or Rock song.
A graduate of Eastern Connecticut University with a Bachelor of Arts, she continued her education, receiving a Master of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. She began her career as a social worker for Lutheran Social Services in Amarillo, TX, and went on to work as a Human Resource Assistant at Anderson Merchandisers in Plano, TX.
She is preceded in death by her brother Ricky Alan Layne. She is survived by her loving parents, many friends, and her extended Aud, Blackmon, and Moody families.
Sylvia will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
No services will be held. A virtual memorial can be found in the link below. If you would like to honor her legacy, please donate in Sylvia’s name to In-Sync Exotics in Wylie, TX.
