

He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 22, 1940 to George and Fredericka Meyer. While attending Bishop England High School, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as well as honors like class president and Most Catholic Boy. After graduating from Bishop England High School in 1958, he attended The Citadel graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962 and was the recipient of the Charles Thurston Razor award for the most outstanding electrical engineering senior. This award is presented annually by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to a senior based on scholastic achievement and a willingness to help others. Tim continued his education at Georgia Institute of Technology graduating with a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1964.
While at Georgia Tech, he married his high school sweetheart, Carmiell Virginia (Ginny) Eaton, on September 1, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Tim and Ginny celebrated 63 years of marriage in September 2025 - always supporting each other in their passions, projects and travels. He was a dedicated and beloved father to three daughters.
Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and was attached to NASA at Redstone Arsenal working on electronics for the third stage of Saturn V. Following his NASA assignment, Tim had a career as a Defense Contractor with Texas Instruments beginning in 1967. He then worked for Hughes and Raytheon as divisions were sold and absorbed, always enjoying the newest project. Prior to the Electrical Engineering Directorship at TI, he worked on GPS business initiatives, precision instruments, and guidance systems. During his career, he completed two more degrees: a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Management in Engineering Management, both from the University of Dallas.
He was a member of St Vincent de Paul at St Mark’s Catholic Church for many years. Tim served on the Collin County Homeless Coalition and was proud to earn the title of the oldest roofer while volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He had a passion for running, reading, carpentry, and education. He traveled the world with his wife, Ginny. They took grandchildren for cherished trips to celebrate each grandchild’s 10th birthday.
Tim Meyer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ginny. He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Meyer, Barbara Harty, and Pamela (Pam) Meyer, and by five grandchildren: Samantha Woodall, Caitlin Mueller (Nick Newby), Jacqueline Harty, Delaney Mueller (Brock Mills), and Timothy Mueller. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Savannah Wyman and Roman Mills. Tim is survived by two brothers: Gerald Meyer (Adrienne) and Andrew Meyer (Lorena) and by his sister: Mildred (Millie) Spencer (Richard). He is beloved by many nieces and nephews and their children as well as by his many cousins.
Visitation and Rosary will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th St. Plano 75074. Mass will be offered on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive, Plano 75075 with burial at Plano Mutual Cemetery on 18th Street.
