Virginia Anne Doolittle

Virginia A. Doolittle was born on December 31, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to Rufus N. McKnight, Sr. and Ida McKnight. Virginia passed away on October 29, 2014 with her daughter by her side. Virginia received a BS in Home Economics from SMU and a BS in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She was a caring, loving, and sweet grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, teacher, nurse, and friend. She spent most of her career caring for newborn babies Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. We were blessed to have her in our lives and will be forever be grateful for the time we had with her here. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus N. McKnight, Sr. and Ida McKnight, her husband, Wilcox S. Doolittle, Sr., her step daughter, Mandy Doolittle, and her brother, Rufus N. McKnight, Jr. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and David Cathey, her grandchildren Michael, Brittany, and Jennifer, her stepson, Wilcox S Doolittle, Jr. and his son, Jon, her sisters, Betty Speairs, Bonnie Glanville, and Jane Hughes as well as eleven nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration on Friday, November 7, at 3:30 pm. A visitation will be held the night before at Ted Dickey Funeral Home from 6-8. Interment will be after the service at the Bishop Mason Mausoleum in Flower Mound.
