Bill was born September 24, 1937 in Muskegon, MI to Milton and Jean Marquard where he grew up with two younger brothers. He graduated from the University of Michigan (“Go Blue!”) with an Engineering degree and moved to Buffalo, NY in 1960 to start a career with Hooker Chemical/Durez (now Oxy). In Buffalo, he met and married Gail Edwards in 1962. They both moved to California in 1963 and worked and save for their first house in order to start a family. They returned to Buffalo in 1968 and raised 4 boys. Bill later obtained his MBA from the University of Buffalo. His proudest achievement and joy came from his family and friends. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano where he volunteered in numerous activities to help others.
He will always be remembered for his positive nature, kindness, smile, and wit. He led a “Wild One” with countless adventures from around the world during his travels for work over his 40 years with Oxy.
