Ercoli, Dominick Mingo, 94, went home to be with his Lord February 18th, 2012. Mr. Ercoli was born to Italian immigrants, Daniel and Rosa Ercoli, on November 10th, 1917 in Pennsylvania. His family migrated to Knights Station Florida when he was 2 years old. Mingo was one of 5 children, all of whom preceded him in death. School was difficult for the Ercoli children as they lived in a household that only spoke Italian and spent much of their time working on the family farm. Mingo was married to Goldie Ham on August 5th, 1940. They made their home at Knights Station. Mingo carried on the family farm. They grew strawberries, vegetables, hay, raised cattle and operated an egg farm. He was an active member and Deacon of Knights Baptist Church and the eldest member. Mingo enjoyed riding through the pasture keeping an eye on the herd, checking the fences and looking for new born calves. Nothing made Mingo happier than a hot sunny day while his hay was curing or a large bowl of ice cream. His 90th birthday was no different than any other day, he spent it bailing hay on his 1974 Massey Ferguson. He leaves behind an adoring family, his three children Alan, Shirley and Richard; their spouses Eileen and Lisa; six grandchildren Alicia, Gina, Matthew, Brea, Haley and Carson; and six great grandchildren Kelsey, Benjamin, Ethan, Noah, Danny and Paige, all of whom will miss him dearly. " Thou anoinest my head with oil and my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. " Psalm 23 5:6.
Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday 2:00 PM at Knights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at West Oaklawn Cemetery.
