James Ray Woods passed away November 11, 2021 at the age of 91. He passed peacefully in his daughter’s home in Lakeland, Florida, surrounded by family. Until his health did not permit, Ray truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years, he loved watching baseball. What a gift he received on November 2 when the Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series. This year he didn’t miss watching a single game played by the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves.
A Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at County Line Missionary Baptist Church on November 20th. Visitation will be at 1:00pm with the Memorial Service directly after, starting at 2:00pm. All friends and family are welcome.
With wife Imogene, he is survived by one daughter, Barbara Balingit of Lakeland, Florida and four grandchildren, Winona, Tonia and Rachel Newell and Alec Balingit all of Lakeland, Florida; as well as three great grandchildren.
With his second wife Flostine, he is survived by one step-daughter, Tina Moore, five step-grandchildren, Anna Moore and Matt, Tessa, Sarah and Hanna Rose Rickman; as well one step-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by first wife Imogene McClure and from his second marriage, wife Flostine Woods, his brother, Henry Woods and his parents, Onnie and Dora Woods.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to County Line Missionary Baptist Church.
The Balingit family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland for the wonderful loving care and support they provided to my Dad and my family during this difficult and emotion time; as well as the wonderful family and friends in the Tennessee community.
He will be dearly missed.
