
He was born May 22, 1949 in the first Plant City Hospital located at corner of East Reynolds St and North Collins St to George Clyde Hicks and Margaret Elizabeth Andreu Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Henry Hicks. He is survived by a brother Marion Clyde Hicks (Kathryn) Mariana, FL, a sister Dorothy Elizabeth Odom (Dwight) Lakeland, FL, three aunts Mrs. Lillian LeDou (Lou) Belvedere SC, Mrs. Joy Shelton Trinity AL, Mrs. Dorothy Andreu Plant City FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He attended Turkey Creek School and Polk Community College. He excelled in music and was the Drum Major for the school Marching Band.
He worked teaching music and was school band director for Moulton High School in Alabama. He moved to Chicago, IL where he was a window designer for a large department store. After several years he relocated to sunny Gainesville, FL and became a floral designer and later returned to Plant City where he owned and operated several Florist Shops.
He loved to travel. He traveled across the USA several times, visiting New York City, Washington DC, Bernardsville NJ, and lived in Modesto California a short time. He traveled in Europe including Germany and Italy.
He was an avid collector of art-deco type art, dishes, plaques, sculptures, and furniture. He enjoyed Flea Market - yard sale shopping. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with all his friends and family.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:30 AM, located at Trinity United Methodist Church, 402 West English St, Plant City, Florida.
