Pamela C. Anders, 77, of Clermont, FL, passed away at her home on June 4, 2024. Pamela is predeceased by her parents, Helen and Harry Carlton of Plant City, FL. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lynn Anders; brother, Robert Carlton; daughter, Katie Anders; son, David (Ronni) Anders; grandson, Gatlin Anders; and granddaughters, Reagan (Josh) Ordonez and Grace Anders.
Pam graduated from Plant City High School in 1965. She was a member of the National Honor Society, cheerleader, majorette, & a Reign n’ Shine Queen. She earned a degree in Home Economics at Florida State University in 1969. At FSU, Pam’s other accomplishments included Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority membership, the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, the Garnet Key Award, and being a performer in the Flying High Circus on the Cloud Swing & Spanish Web.
She began her teaching career at Merritt Island High School. It was there that she met Lynn, a Driver’s Education and later Biology and Physiology teacher. They married in 1970. Pam also earned a Master’s in Elementary Education at the University of Central Florida in 1988. She spent much of her 30-year teaching career in the Brevard County School System at Fairglen Elementary School.
In Merritt Island, Pam was an involved member of Grace United Methodist Church teaching pre-school, Vacation Bible School, & participating in United Methodist Women. After retiring to Clermont, FL, Pam continued her work of helping others at First United Methodist Church of Clermont and then at Edge United Methodist Church in Groveland, FL. She taught Sunday school, participated in Days for Girls and UMW activities, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, visited shut-ins and nursing home residents, and helped others in any way she could.
Pam was a devoted grandmother, mother, wife, friend, cousin, and neighbor. She planned numerous social and family functions and maintained correspondence with relatives and lasting friendships. She was a voracious reader, lifelong learner, and enjoyed traveling. At age 65 she became an avid participant in 5K races, collecting numerous medals and always attempting to improve her finishing time.
Pam never stopped looking for ways to help others; she was very generous with her time and resources. She was dearly loved by her relatives and friends whom she in turn loved dearly and put much thought and care into those relationships.
A Celebration of the Life will take place June 15, 2024, at the Family Christian Center, 2500 Highway 27 South in Clermont, Florida 34711. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by a strawberry shortcake social.
