Wallace "Ed" Edwin Britt

Wallace Edwin (Ed) Britt, age 96, was surrounded by family as he left this earth and entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. A native of Crawford, Georgia, Ed married Virginia (Ginny) Williams on Dec. 24, 1939. He proudly and honorably served in the Navy during WWII, leaving Ginny behind to raise their infant son, Larry. Upon his discharge, the young family moved to Plant City, Florida to begin a long career as owners and operators of Nu Way Cleaners. There they continued to raise 2 more sons each of whom graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Alabama. Ed devoted himself to his first love, our Lord Jesus Christ. He tirelessly proclaimed God's word as His servant at the Cork Church of Christ for 45 years. For much of that time, he was the host of a local radio program known as "Bible Talk". He served on the Board of Directors at Florida College where he and Ginny earned the Friend To Youth Award in 2002. He continued to quote scripture to those who gathered around him in his final days hoping to gain a portion of his strength and knowledge.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved Ginny after 68 years of living and loving side by side; grandson, Ronnie Britt of Las Vegas, NV; parents, Robert Lee and Mattie Mae (Johnson); siblings, Herman, Fred and Willie Lee (Smith). He is survived by three sons, Dr. Larry Britt, Dr. Randy (Pamela) Britt and Dr. Robert (Pamela) Britt; one sister, Dorothy Koulouris (Athens, Greece) and her children; grandchildren, Jenny (David) Fowler, Luke (Bonnie) Britt, Seth Britt, Erin (Nick) Hardy, Adam Britt, Dakota Britt; great grandchildren, Amanda and Katie Fowler, Kole and Adason Britt, Kye and Max Hardy; step grandchildren, Brooke (Josh) Westerfield, Dustin (Sara) Richardson and Sgt. Blake Richardson; step great grandchildren Erin Westerfield, Blake and Bentley Richardson; other extended family; and his church family.

His family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 6-8pm, Wells Memorial Funeral Home in Plant City. Funeral services to be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10am, Cork Church of Christ, 3211 Cork Rd, Plant City. Graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lakeland immediately following.
