It is very hard to believe this! I had the pleasure working with Carl for few years, he was always positive, full of energy and with a big smile on his face.

Samedi la journée des funérailles a été une journée remplie d'amour de partage de beaux souvenirs. Beaucoup de gens présents pour dire à la famille comment Carl était aimé ! Nous allons nous souvenir de cette journée remplie d'amour et de liens tissés serrés comme j'ai rarement vu. Vous êtes une très belle famille et je vous souhaite la meilleur. Carl continuera à vivre à travers vous !

I was so very sorry to hear of Carl's passing,  I have fond memories of our STS days and then of course, the Kurling For Kids events that Carl took such pride in doing.  His smile was infectious and I will not forget it.  Due to unforeseen circumstances I am not able to participate in today's celebration of his life but my heart is with his loved ones, both family & friends.  Again, my deepest condolences on your loss.

Ce fut un grand bonheur et privilège que d'avoir pû côtoyer Carls chez Averna.
Toujours souriant, passionné, impliqué  et enthousiaste comme on en voit que très rarement.

La vie est vraiment trop injuste....  Nous enlever si tôt un être qui apportait autant dans les vies de tous et chacun. Le monde serait tellement meilleur si on avait plus de Carl. Un exemple à suivre ... 

 Je pense aux proches pour qui ça va faire un grand vide,  je vous offre mes plus sincères sympathies.

Ça fait déjà une semaine que j'ai appris ton décès et je cherche encore les mots pour te rendre hommage. Mes pensées oscillent entre la tonne de souvenirs heureux de notre tendre enfance et le choc de la nouvelle de ton départ soudain et inattendu. Ta bonne humeur et ton humour teinté par ton esprit moqueur resteront gravés dans ma mémoire avec le souvenir de nos espiègleries et le plaisir partagé que nous avions à nous en rappeler. Je me sens privilégié d'avoir pu partager ce beau lien d'amitié avec toi et triste de devoir écrire ces derniers mots... Adieu.

Carl a marqué la grande famille d'Averna non seulement par son expertise mais surtout par sa personnalité marquante! Disons-le dès que Carl animait une réunion ou faisait une présentation, tous étaient suspendus à sa voix radiophonique et nous pouvions entendre une mouche volée. Grande énergie, un humour à faire craquer. Il nous manqué déjà beaucoup.

I had the pleasure of working with Carl at STS and again at Nakisa, and of participating in K4K on several occasions.  It is a shock to imagine anyone leaving us so young, especially someone as bright, funny and engaged as Carl.
My sincere condolences to the family & may your memories help you through this most difficult time.

       Le destin t’a fauché en pleine action.......et l’on peine à croire que ta présence  future se manifeste en une réalité virtuelle. La réalité de merveilleux souvenirs que tu nous laisses :
        Le souvenir d’un personnage souriant, arborant la joie de vivre et le désir de partager amitié, savoir et compétences au profit de ton entourage.
        Le souvenir intarissable d’une intelligence vive, doublée d’un humour et d’un pince-sans-rire convivials.   Ton passage sera à jamais remarqué  pour l’ardeur et l’efficacité de ton dévouement au service de K4K, et à l’attachement pour ta famille et tes amis.
         La pêche ne sera jamais plus pareille sans toi......puisque c’est un jour noir que celui, où la seule prise du jour pour un bon pêcheur est la 3 ième prise.

I am so heartbroken to hear this news. I met Carl in the 1980s in Saudi Arabia, our families became fast friends. For many years we shared vacations and memories. I will always remember Carl as funny and quick with the humour.  I can see from all the pictures he has shared over the years he was a great dad too. 

To the Mainguy family, my thoughts are with all of you as you get through this very difficult time.

It's been a few days now, and I am still in shock.  Another good friend taken way too young.  I met Carl at STS in 1990, right out of university and starting at my first job.  We had so many good times in those early years working at STS - playing golf in Myrtle Beach, STS hockey, cheering on the Habs (got him standing room tickets for then 1993 Stanley Cup!), STS curling challenge, to more recently with Kurling for Kids.  Your awesome sense of humor and easy-going personality was just so much fun to be around.  But for sure,  your hard work and dedication to Kurling for Kids with Robert and John, growing it from humble beginnings to the hugely successful charity it is today is a testament to your kind and generous soul.  I will miss your sense of humor, all the good laughs we shared, but most of all, your friendship.

Best friend to our son Mark beginning in Saudi Arabia and happily continuing after our return to Canada. Never saw Carl without a smile and he always greeted us with warmth and respect. Great guy to play hockey with on the 4 on 4 rink as he took it easy on the old man and even let him score a goal. We will miss him greatly as he was taken away much too soon.  

Carl, to your family, I want to express my deepest condolences, in this time of need.
I met Carl for the very first time, at the Glenmore curling club, my very first Kurling for Kids meeting. From that very first moment, I realized he was one good person, and with Robert, they were 2 honest guys we could trust. That sentiment has never changed after 13 yrs.  
Carl was a great family man, a great community man, and in a nutshell, he was a great man to be a friend of.

For Carl's family, children & friends I am sending my heartfelt sympathies to all of you. I knew Carl as an auctioneer for our annual work cookie exchanges-he was always such a great sport working with the gifts we brought to auction off and created so many laughs every time. I cared for him as a patient and we have had many conversations when he was with me. He was a kind soul and I am sorry to hear that he has left a great big hole in your hearts.  When my brother died a year ago we were scrambling for photographs so since I cannot mend the pain that this has caused perhaps this collage of images he loved enough to share on facebook will offer you all some happy memories of him.  He will always be with you and you will find him in moments when a familiar scent passes your nose, when you hear a laugh that sounds like his, when a snowflake gently lands on your hand and when a butterfly lands close to you. Un des souvenirs que j ai de Carl remonte à sa jeune enfance. Je le revois assis sur les genoux de mon oncle Camille ,son grand-père ,et conduire l auto pour venir  nous rendre visite la famille de Charles et Fernande Mainguy. Robert, 
Même si ça fait presque 70 ans qu’on s’est perdu de vue, je ne pouvais rester silencieuse face à cette terrible nouvelle.  Quand on est parent, la logique veut qu’on parte avant nos enfants.  La vie ne nous prépare jamais à l’inverse.  Je ne peux même pas imaginer à quel point toi et ta famille devez être affligés.

Même si vous recevrez de nombreux témoignages, ça ne réussira pas à atténuer les larmes et la peine que vous porterez tous.  Mais malgré ces tristes réalités, vous réaliserez que vous n’êtes pas seuls.  C’est pour cette raison que je tenais à te dire que je suis de tout coeur avec vous dans cette triste épreuve.

En espérant que ce message vous apportera un peu réconfort, je vous pris de recevoir mes plus sincères condoléances.
