Throughout her life, she maintained her strong faith, sense of humour, graciousness and gratitude to those around her.
Born in Montreal in 1933 to Kathleen (Hinphy) and John Danaher, Catherine received degrees from McGill University, Loyola College, Universite de Montreal and Notre Dame Secretarial School. After one year of teaching, she led a very successful career as an executive assistant and public relations professional.
Music and singing were a big part of Catherine’s life. For over 45 years she was an active member of a barbershop choir. Catherine loved the beach, skiing, the cottage, a good cocktail glass, debating politics and spending time with her family and many friends. One of the greatest joys in Catherine’s life was time spent with her brothers and sisters. In 1972, Catherine married Tim Kelly (2008) and overnight, became mother to his six children. She did an absolutely wonderful job of raising her family and teaching them the importance of etiquette, manners, and a well-made bed. Marianne (Joe), George (Monique), Peter (Bonnie), Robert (Stephanie), Sean (Angela) and Jane (Bill) are eternally grateful that she came in to their lives. Catherine was the loving and attentive grandmother to her many grandchildren Sean (Melissa), Jeffrey, Allison (Nick), Thierry, Renaud, Matthew, Brendan, Victoria, William, Shannon, Catherine, Zachary and Darcy and great-grandmother to Payton.
She was predeceased by her husband Tim and her beloved siblings Brian, Jack, Ann, Helen and Sister Mary Alice Danaher. She will be deeply missed by her brother Kevin, sister-in-law and dear friend Marlynne, sister-in-law Sue, nieces Elizabeth, Mary Ellen, Kelly, her many other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
Catherine’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence for their extraordinary care and understanding during Catherine’s final weeks. They would also like to thank the staff at the Jewish General Hospital palliative care unit.
