Elizabeth Watson

Elizabeth (Betty) Connolly (nee Watson), passed away in the early morning of Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the West Island Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland, after a short battle with cancer. Betty was born the second daughter of James and Mary Jane Watson on November 20, 1932 in Derry, Ireland. Betty was happily married to her late husband of over 40 years, John Connolly.

Betty was a longtime resident of Chateauguay, and spent her working career at Bell Canada, from where she retired. She was a proud member of the OLPH congregation where she donated much of her time to the CWL. Betty is survived by her son Mike (Darlene Rimkus), daughter Shona (Neil Butler) and by her grandchildren Ryan, Jarrod, Cody, Alyssa, Connor and Trevor, who were her pride and joy. She will be missed by her sisters and their families, Myra (Ken), Rosita (Terry), Sadie (John), Martha (Neil), Eileen (Benny), Theresa (Pat), Ginny (Jim), Greta (Tony), Joe (Ruby).

Betty leaves her dearest and most devoted friends of more than 50 years, Kathy Rush (Tom) and Joan Hopkirk (Duncan), who blessed her with love and friendship. She will be remembered and missed profoundly by her “Irish Connection” of friends that include Claire and Marcel Frenette, Doreen Peacock (John), Mary Bremner (Moe), and Debbie Hopkirk.

We wish to thank the West Island Palliative Care Residence staff and volunteers for their wonderful support and care in her last days.

Betty Connolly will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and her profound faith in God. May her soul rest in peace.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive condolences as of 10:00 a.m. at
