Ingeborg Eidnes, born Ingeborg Müller on the 25th of December 1941, died Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at the Jewish General Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. She is to be reunited with her parents, Hans and Maria, as well as with her beloved son Andreas. She is deeply missed by her husband of 52 years Johannes, son Hans-Christian, daughter-in-law Monica and Grandchildren Yan and Yna.
Ingeborg was above all a unique, fascinating woman, with all-rounded interests and life experiences. Her unrivalled energy and contagious enthusiasm for life and adventure were awe-inspiring to all who met her. She was an accomplished athlete, an unequalled hostess and a Goddess of gardening. Being fluent in five languages, greatly enhanced her many travel experiences and expanded her repertoire and appreciation of literature and art in general, of which she was very fond. She was also mindful of the environment in her daily life: she prioritized bicycling and public transportation, saved and reused water, and eagerly composted and recycled. To us, she was a caring and loving wife, mother and mother-in-law, and a very fun Omi to her two grandchildren who adore her.
Ingeborg stayed deeply connected to her birthplace, Hagnau am Bodensee, Germany, which she visited at least once a year until 2020 and where she continued to nurture her relationships with family, friends, and neighbours. Upon completing her studies, Ingeborg moved to Switzerland where she met her loving husband of 52 years, Johannes Eidnes. They married in 1969 and lived in Europe, notably in Switzerland and Austria before settling in Montréal. During her time in Europe, Ingeborg worked for the UN; while in Montréal, her career at R.C. Hagen Inc as the personal assistant to the chairman extended over 25 years.
Ingeborg enjoyed a fulfilled, beautiful life. With her beloved husband, she travelled extensively, but she particularly treasured their many vacations throughout Mexico. When they were not travelling abroad, she spent time at the family cottage in Ontario, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and entertaining. While at home, she would spend summer afternoons bicycling and designing and tending to her gorgeous garden, one of her greatest passions; and cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and snowboarding in winter.
We gratefully acknowledge the exemplary love and care given to Ingeborg by her oncologist Dr. S. Wong and the staff in the Palliative Care ward at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. Given the exceptional situation we are currently experiencing, due to a pandemic, funeral services will be made at a later date.
