1934 - 2022
Ivan, lovingly known as Boompa, left us peacefully on December 20th, 2022, in Montréal, Québec, Canada among family. He will be greatly missed by his partner Kati Pallay; his brother Béla; sister-in-law Gizi; his children: Gabrielle, Yvette (Bruce), Vilmos (Janne) and Christopher (Nancy); his grandchildren: Kati (Shawn), Kristin, Oliver and Ella; and his great grandchildren: Eva, Clark and Mira; and many close friends. He was predeceased by his: brother Péter; sister Kati and husband Dudi; sister-in-law Mady and ex-wife Éva.
Born in Travna, Slovakia, on February 13th, 1934, to Béla Paldi and Katalin Szabo. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 with Éva, brother Béla and brother-in-law Laszlo.
In addition to being a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, some of his achievements included: mechanical engineering specialist in the pulp and paper industry; three acquired patents in recovery boiler systems; an aspiring architect; master carpenter; craftsman; and a Hungarian chef. He was a loving person, a true charmer, well respected, loyal, generous, extremely determined and very creative.
In celebration of Ivan's life, there will be a visitation on Thursday, December 29th, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm and a funeral on Friday, December 30th at 2 pm. Both ceremonies will be at the Collins Clarke MacGillivary White Funeral Home at 222 Autoroute 20 in Pointe-Claire, Québec, H9S 3Y5.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakeshore General Hospital would be greatly appreciated for the loving care received by the staff on third floor south.
