The patriarch of the Frappier family has now gone to join his wife of 61 years, Margaret, who has (likely quite impatiently!) been waiting for him for almost 4 years.
He was the son of the late Maria Mongeau and the late Alfred Frappier and big brother to Annette (Rémi Dubé) , Pauline (late Marcel Pagé) , the late Thérèse, the late Bernard, the late Jacques (late Carmen), the late Roger (Henriette) and the late Pierre (Rolande).
After a long and well-lived life, he leaves to mourn his daughter Suzanne (Alain Paquet), his son Gerry (Catherine Heeremans), his truly beloved grandchildren Bruno, Caroline ( Robert ), William, Evelyne ( Michaël ), Laura and Michael along with his daughter-in-law Barbara Eplett (John) and countless others who he touched through his warmth, kindness, compassion and the uniquely gentle ways of his soul.
He proudly came from humble beginnings in the town of Thurso, Quebec and while he left at a young age for school in Ottawa and then the HEC in Montreal, he never strayed from those roots as exemplified by his fiercely strong devotion to family, his genuine humility and his unwavering religious faith, all of which guided him throughout his life.
He met his wife -to-be while working as a purser on the “Tadoussac “ passenger ship in the early fifties, certainly a case of destiny for him and a small town Ontario girl who was filling in at the last minute for a friend on a vacation trip!
Their relationship blossomed and their marriage would first take them to Toronto, Kitchener and finally to Montreal where they lived together for 57 years.
While working as a stock broker for most of his professional life, his signature career accomplishment being the founding of his own small firm “ Frappier & Holland “ along with his wife, his true life’s work was defined above all by family : he embraced his role as a generous and caring patriarch to the extended Frappier clan, he always placed his wife and her interests first, he gave unconditional love and support to his 2 children and his one last masterpiece being the truly remarkable and foundational role he played in the lives of his 6 grandchildren, a treasured and lasting gift to us all.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Catherine Booth hospital, at CHSLD Grace Dart where he spent that last 18 months of his life under their expert and compassionate care and finally to 2 special women, Maureen Harrison and Anne-Marie Joseph who provided loving care and companionship to him every single day without fail.
We thank our good fortune and blessings for having had him for so long in our lives, for always showing us what really mattered and for leaving us with a treasure trove of wonderful memories that we will always cherish.
Rest in peace our beloved “Pawpaw”.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 14 from 2 PM to 5 PM and on Sunday April 15 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at the chapel on site.
In lieu of flowers and to honor his memory, please do something kind to someone else today.
