Dear Gingras and Montgomery Families.  We only heard today of Karen's passing and are so saddened. Like so many others our first encounter  with Karen was at Medistat.  Newly moved to Montreal with a young family in tow and then a medical crisis and no family doctor.  Boy did she embrace our family and although a "walk-in" she treated us like one of her own.  The real truth came when I called the next day and not only did she remember my name but had been doing circles to get us the help we needed.  Such an incredible lady and we took comfort moving forward that she was always only a phone call away.  May the sharing of all these wonderful stories and kind words continue to bring your family strength during these dark hours.

Lynn Allison's words were very evocative for me. The Montgomerys and the Gingras were indeed a big part of hockey in Dorval, and members of the Mathieson family spent many hours in their company. Back in those days, Karen was a fine figure skater. She was also the captain of her ringette team, and someone who made a special effort ensure that my handicapped sister Janet always felt welcome. That spoke to the quality of Karen's character, a quality that I saw reflected in the remembrances of so many others. From the Mathiesons to the Gingras and the Montgomerys, deepest sympathies at this difficult time.

I will never forget Karen's warmth, thoughtfulness, and kindness. How lucky I felt to be welcomed by such a wonderful person when I first walked into the Medistat Clinic so many years ago. I enjoyed getting to know Karen over the years and will never forget how special she made us all feel. She always went the extra mile to help out. She absolutely doted on my daughter Sofia - it was so much fun to watch them interact! I feel very lucky to have known such a kind spirit and old soul. Her spirit will live on in the kindness she showed - it will be paid forward. Rest in peace, Karen, and keep smiling :) My sincere condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Karen was funny, strong, kind and wise.  She had the ability to make you feel special and she bonded with so many lucky souls.  I will never forget how she so warmly welcomed me to Medistat with my new baby (at the time) and my puppy!  I admired her hard work and her genuine empathy for people.  Will miss her energy, her glowing spirit, her laugh.  Many heartfelt condolences to the entire family.  Rest in peace, dear Karen.....with much love and admiration.

many yrs ago the montgomerys and the gingras were a big part dorval hockey..my brother dean and earl both played hockey with jim and bruce and our families were friends..i'm very sorry to hear about Karen's passing...my deepest thoughts and prayers to both families at this difficult time...rip Karen...

As many have said, Karen was a wonderful lady. She loved and was very proud of her family. More so, in her years at Medistat, she brought smiles to those who worked with her and to the hundreds of patients she dealt with over the years. Karen touched many lives by making the process easier for them.  She will be sadly missed. My heartfelt thoughts to the Montgomery/Gingras families.

I have known Karen for many years she worked at Medistat. She was always, no matter what life gave her , a very positive person , trying to help and please everybody, a profound very good person and a colleague. Never a bad thing to say about anyone. She lived for her work and family, that is what I admired the most about her. Always a smile on her face, happy go lucky, no matter what.
