It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Mary Read (née Seal), at the age of 90, with her family by her side. Cherished wife of the late Thomas Clift Read (2000). Loving mother of Michael, Jeffrey (Dollie), Susan (Bruno Londei), Brian (Leyla), Linda (Daniel Benizri), and Philip (Suzanne). Proud grandmother of Lisa and Jeff (and their mother Pat); Chris, Jenne, and Michael; Aiden, Matthew, and Catherine Londei; Andrea and Kevin; and Stephanie and Terrence, and their spouses and partners. Great-grandmother of eleven. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Donald and Rosemary Seal (Toronto), and beloved sister-in-law and friend of Arnold and Bette Read (Kanata). Special aunt, great-aunt, and cousin to family in Ontario, British Columbia, and California. In 1948, Lois married Clift, with whom she shared 52 years of family, travel, and making their Meadowvale house a home for their six children, cousins, and friends. She enjoyed the company of Fran, Carol, the Monday Morning Coffee Ladies, and the original Dorval North neighbours, sharing each other's optimism, laughter, and true friendship. Wise, kind, and generous, she contributed to the growth of the LUUC and touched the lives of many children during her career as a teacher. Mom was our greatest cheerleader, could remember everyone's birthday, and knew how to get from Point A to Point B, three different ways. Lois lived a life of grace, love, and gratitude, and as we loved her, so we will miss her. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Bernstein, Dr. John Chen, Manoir Kirkland, and Lakeshore General Hospital 3W for their excellent care and compassion. Visitation Friday, May 17, from 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00; a celebration of Lois's life will take place Saturday, May 18, at 11:00 (with visitation one hour before); Collins Clarke, 222 autoroute 20, Pointe Claire, H9S 3X6. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation, Child Haven, or the charity of your choice.
