Fay was born to single mother Mathilda, “Tillie” and was raised by relatives Ted and Marie in Bowness, AB. Mom was part of an extended family of aunts, uncles and many cousins, all of whom she was very close to. She loved the Calgary Stampede and going to football games with her dad Ted, and her beloved Uncle Skip.
Fay married twice (Larry, Gary) and had three daughters, Stephanie (David), Deanna and Shari (Jim).
Mom made certain our family spent summers and Christmases at the cottage. Before the cottage, we'd spend holidays squeezed together in our tent trailer with our dog and grandparents. Mom made sure we were able to visit our cousins out west as often as possible.
Fay was our mom, teacher, confidante and friend. She allowed us lots of freedoms, and knew all our secrets. Mom taught us to love and respect all living things, to cherish beauty (and dogs) and value humour (and cats). Mom gifted us with the joy of learning and the magic in reading. She modeled how to be strong and kind, to fight for what is right and protect what is important. Mom fiercely supported our chosen paths and was extremely proud of our every achievement.
Her three grandchildren, Erynn, Emilie and Brianna (Sebastien) brought her joy and laughter. Fay marvelled at the fact that she was lucky enough to be a great grandmother to our little Finn. Mom always made sure we knew she loved us, and she left us knowing she was loved.
Fay was our mother - she will forever live in our hearts and will undoubtedly continue to make us laugh.
Rest easy, Mom.
Your girls.
