Surrounded by loved ones, Roy Nadeau passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 23, 2020 in his eighty-third year. He will be forever missed and loved by his wife of 60 years Louise Cormier, his daughters Angela (Marc), Francine (Gerry), Pamela (Sylvain), and Dale (Clint); grandsons Joey (Carolyne), Corey (Stephanie), Jeremy, Colby, Ethan and Derek; great grandchildren Lilly, Xavier, Cali, Beau and Oliver.
He will also be sadly missed by his brothers Willie and Rob, his many brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will now be forever united with his baby boy, parents Hollis and Mable, sisters Vaughn, Audrey, Marjorie, and brother Maurice.
Roy was born in Harrington Harbour, Quebec on November 15, 1937. In his early years he worked as a fisherman in La Tabatiere where he met the love of his life, Louise. Shortly after he moved to Sept-Iles where he spent most of his life employed as a Train Engineer for the Iron Ore Company of Canada. In 2018 Roy and Louise moved to Valleyfield to be closer to their family.
Roy was hard working, a good provider, dedicated and supportive to his wife and four daughters. Many vacations were spent camping at Moisie Beach and in different areas of Quebec, Ontario and the Maritime provinces. He would take his daughters jigging for cod fish and blueberry picking. In winters he would take his family snowshoeing, tobogganing and ice fishing, build campfires in the snow where everyone would gather around and drink hot chocolate. His grandchildren also have treasured memories visiting Sept-Iles, going boating with him and experiencing the many passions of his life. Roy loved to fish and hunt. He also loved a good party, telling stories and joking around. He will be always loved, forever missed and never forgotten.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the team at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence for their loving care, kindness and compassion during his last week of life.
A celebration of Roy’s life will take place at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Foundation.
