Ruth Amelia Knowles (Nee Runnells)

Born on October 30, 1924, in Granby, QC Ruth was the cherished daughter of Dr. George W. Runnells and Margaret Jean Monroe.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Roger Knowles, in 2009, as well as by her three sisters, Margaret, Mary, and Helen, and her two brothers, George and Graham.

Ruth is survived by her children, Michael Knowles (Wendy) and Cindy Duke (Brent), along with her beloved grandchildren: Nicholas, Brendan, Adrianna, Andrew, Heather and Hunter.

As the youngest of six siblings, Ruth had an incredible zest for life. She loved people and was extremely humorous. She adored animals, the outdoors in particularly skiing. Ruth was also passionate about cooking, often sharing her culinary creations with family and friends. She taught art and continued painting well into her 80’s.

Ruth met Roger in 1962 at Macdonald College, and they married in May 1963. Together, they created a beautiful home in Baie D’Urfe, QC, where they resided for 43 years until Roger’s passing. The couple enjoyed extensive world travel, shared a passionate love of music and art, and enjoyed hosting friends, family, and colleagues. They also cherished their time sailing together.

Our family would like to extend profound gratitude and special thanks to the entire staff at Sunrise Senior Living for their incredible care of our beloved mother.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
