Given the exceptional situation we are currently experiencing, due to a pandemic, it is still possible to receive condolences at the funeral home, but under the respect of the recommendations of the government, which are as follow: - Only 25 people, determined beforehand by the family, are allowed; - Respect the 2 meters of social distancing at all times; - Respect the hygiene instructions (hand washing); - Wearing a mask is mandatory; - No one who has traveled in the past few weeks be present; - No one with a symptom of COVID-19 be present.

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that we announce that our cherished Susan Hayes has passed away.

Beloved mother to Corey and Tracy Hayes, beloved wife of 57 years to Gary Hayes and sister of Michael Hilsz and the late Patricia Anderson, she was born in San Francisco, CA to Carmelita (Quartaroli) and Lloyd Hilsz. It was upon entering the University of Oregon to study English Literature that she met her future husband with whom she moved to Canada and who, as she shared during her last days, was her one and only love in life.

Susan maintained a lifelong interest in literature, global travel and wordplay. She nurtured an insatiable curiosity and a keen wit which extended to many passions, including the natural world, environmental awareness, gardening and orchids. She was an advocate of animal rights and a lifelong lover of animals. She was a sports enthusiast, adept in the most intricate of nuances across a range of subjects.

Due to the COVID restrictions, a private service will be held by invitation only on Friday, April 16th, 2021. A memorial will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the PD Clinic at Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, QC for their exceptional care and support.
