Burk Johnson Boggs, 80, of Pompano Beach, Florida, born to Guy B. and Ella C. Boggs of West Virginia on August 17, 1945, died on February 22, 2026, of natural causes. Burk was born in Charleston, West Virginia and grew up at Tyler Mountain near Charleston and in St. Albans, graduating in 1963 from St. Albans High School. After attending Beckley College, he moved to northern Virginia and thoroughly enjoyed a career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 39 years of “Outstanding Service and Dedication.” Never married; he lived in Manassas, Virginia for nearly 50 years before moving to Florida 2 years ago.
Burk loved to fish and to travel, make new friends, and take lots of pictures, often with his brother, Boxley. Some of his trips included Israel, England, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Haiti, as well as the Canadian Maritimes and numerous U.S. National Parks.
As an ardent believer in Jesus Christ, Burk loved to share his faith, almost always having a gospel tract on hand ready to share with others. He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manassas, Virginia.
Burk thoroughly enjoyed visiting and being visited by nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. He was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dennis, Phyllis, Leona, Bruce, and Blaine. His brother Boxley still lives, and along with Burk’s nephew Andrew, they have had the joy of helping Burk through the past two years of failing health.
Burk will be laid to rest at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, West Virginia, near the graves of his father and mother.
